Uzbekistan to open new multimodal logistics center.

New multimodal logistics center “Pap” will be launched in Namangan region of Uzbekistan on 1 January 2014.

President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov signed a resolution of Cabinet of Ministers “On creation and organization of functioning of multimodal logistics center in Namangan region” on 26 February 2013.

The document was adopted in order to improve transport-logistic infrastructure of Ferghana Valley, increase volume of cargo transportations and creation of favourable conditions for timely and undisrupted delivery of cargo, effective use of railway infrastructure in the regions.

According to resolution, multimodal logistics center Pap will be created under Uzbekistan Temir Yollari. The center will be able to process up to 4 million tonnes of freight a year.

The Center Pap should ensure interacted transportation process with various types of transports, including effective use of vehicles fleet of Angren Logistics Center for transportation of cargoes via Qamchiq pass.

According to the resolution, Pap Logistics Center will ensure single multimodal schemes of cargo transportation in Ferghana Valley in cooperation with Angren Logistic Center with use of specialized stations of Ferghana regional railway junctions.

Pap Logistics Center should form effective logistics network to satisfy demands of business entities on rendering transport-logistics and transport-forwarding services, develop optimal schemes for cargo transportation.

The document said that the Center will use warehouses of Ferghana regional railway junctions with simultaneous cargo storage capacity of 91,700 tonnes.

At the same time, Kakir station will be used to storage of coal, construction materials and timber cargo. Qoqand station will store mineral fertilizers and food products.

Margolan station will store cargoes in containers (Ferghana region), Raustan station – coal and construction materials in containers (Namangan region ) and Ahtachi station - coal and construction materials in containers (Ferghana region).

Construction of new center will be started in 2013 and will be financed due to resources of Uzbekistan Temir Yollari.

Pap Logistic Center was exempted from all taxes and payments to state funds and off-budget Fund for Reconstruction, capital repair and equipment of educational and healthcare establishments till 1 January 2017.
